Description: The collection is arranged into series: General Files, Financial Records, Publications, Scrapbooks, Sacramental Records, Artifacts. The General Files (boxes 1-2) contain an institutional history, anniversary materials, brochures, minutes (1915-1939, 1963-1964), property information, lists of students and graduates, curriculum guides, faculty and student handbooks, and several other miscellaneous files. The Financial Records consist of cash books, student accounts, and subscriptions to OUR YOUNG PEOPLE, a magazine published by the school. The Publications Files (boxes 3-8) include a history of the school's first hundred years, several newsletters, and a complete set of the GREEN SPIRIT yearbooks (1971-1983). Works written by the institution's long-time administrator, Rev. Matthias Gerend, and used to support the school are also included. This series contains IN AND ABOUT ST. FRANCIS, a souvenir book published in 1891, several copies of the DEAF MUTE'S FRIEND, and copies of OUR YOUNG PEOPLE from 1893-1961. The Scrapbooks (boxes 9-10) contain photographs and newspaper clippings. The Sacramental Records consist of records of baptisms, communions, confirmations, and marriages. The Artifacts (box 13) include a 16 mm motion picture film of the 25th and 50th anniversaries of St. John's as well as other items.
